Hi I'm Kathy Sturr, an artist who prefers to work in watercolor but sometimes experiments with acrylics and oil pastels. I am somewhat of an introvert but feel a connection with nature and natural surroundings. I have a lot of plant pets to keep me company and also love to cook with plant-based food. Nature and plants are often the subjects of my artwork.
My artwork gravitates toward bold color. I think this is in part because I was born in November, the month of gray, in Wisconsin. I lived the first half of my life in Wisconsin, Maine, and upstate New York — all very cold, bleak Northern climates 6-8 months of the year.
I have migrated with my husband full time to what I call Paradise - a 660 square foot cracker shack rooted in a small island along Florida's beautiful nature coast. I am working at recreating a garden. You may, or may not have known, The Violet Fern garden - my garden from NY. This garden will have a tropical flair.
