Hi I'm Kathy Sturr, an artist who prefers to work in watercolor but sometimes experiments with acrylics and oil pastels. I am somewhat of an introvert but feel a connection with nature and natural surroundings. I have a lot of plant pets to keep me company and also love to cook with plant-based food. Flora, fauna and food are often the subjects of my artwork.

My artwork gravitates toward bold color. I think this is in part because I was born in November, the month of gray, in Wisconsin. I lived the first half of my life in Wisconsin, Maine, and upstate New York — all very cold, bleak Northern climates 6-8 months of the year.

I now live with my husband in what I call Paradise North and Paradise South. Both places are the end result of building a mobile business, a paring down in lifestyle, and an uptake in living free-style. Paradise North is a 12x12 square foot, off the grid cabin nestled in a hemlock grove on a secluded lake property that is only livable 3-4 months of the year (i.e. summer). Paradise South is my homestead, a 660 square foot cracker shack rooted in Florida's beautiful nature coast. My husband and I like to begin each new year in sunny, warm, colorful Mexico as part of an annual tradition whenever possible.

I am happy to sell an original painting or work by commission if you inquire. I also offer art in my Etsy store. You may shop this site for high quality prints of all my works on a variety of surfaces produced by Fine Art America.
